Lemon was used by the ancient Romans for stomach upsets and to sweeten the breath. The British Navy used it to prevent scurvy, and it is now used for almost everything, from an antibacterial aid for sore throats and colds to the slice with ice in a glass of fizzy water.

Properties: Lemon essential oil has an uplifting aroma and is clarifying and toning for the skin. It is antiseptic and astringent. It may be used as an insect repellent.
In aromatherapy Lemon essential oil is useful for clearing the head, whether you have a cold or are mentally exhausted, for energising an aching body, for stimulating circulation, and warming the hands and feet.
Uses: Massage, baths, vaporization, may be added to base emollients and used on a cloth as a household cleaner.
Blends well with: Benzoin, Chamomile, Cistus, Elemi, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Frankincense, Geranium, Juniper, Lavender, Neroli, Oakmoss, Rose, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.
Caution: Lemon essential oil should be used in moderation as it may irritate skin, especially if it is exposed to sunshine after application.
