MANDARIN (Citrus culata)

MANDARIN (Citrus reticulata)

SOURCE: Italy

Mandarin Essential Oil is extracted from the peel of the ripe fruit of the citrus tree.
It is native to southern China and the Far East but is now grown for oil in Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Florida and the West Indies.

Mandarin is named because fruit was a traditional gift to the Mandarin lords of China for centuries, although the fruit did not reach Europe until the 1880s. Today it is used to flavour drink and food, and, as a fragrance in perfume and toiletries.

Pure Mandarin essential oil has a sweet, orange and lemon smell and is sedative. It has a calming effect.
