LEMONGRASS (Cymbopogon citratus)
Lemongrass Essential Oil is extracted from the fresh or dried wild grass. It is grown Commercially in India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Africa and the West Indies.
It has traditionally been used to kill germs. It is now mainly used to flavour foods drinks and toiletries.
Lemongrass essential oil has a warm lemon, grassy smell and is soothing, invigorating antiseptic, antibacterial, and deodorising.
In aromatherapy Lemongrass essential oil is most useful for athlete's foot, and as an insect repellent.
USES:
Massage, baths,
inhalation, poultice, compress.
Diluted well and massaged directly
onto skin, armpits, feet and hands, it will boost the circulation and deodorise.
Apply Lemongrass essential oil
directly to curtain hems to repel insects, and to shoes or rubbish bins
to deodorise.
A few drops in
a hand or footbath will warm the extremities and reduce sweating.
CAUTION:
Lemongrass essential oil is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted.
