CEDARWOOD (VIRGINIAN) (Juniperus virginiana)
Cedarwood Essential Oil is extracted from the wood of the evergreen coniferous tree.
Cedars are thought to offer longevity and so the trees have traditionally been grown in graveyards, and the oil it yields used for embalming in ancient Egypt, and as incense in the East and Tibet.
Cedarwood essential oil has a woody smell, similar to lead pencil shavings. It is stimulating, refreshing and has an astringent, tonic effect.
In aromatherapy it is good for dandruff thinning hair and greasy skin.
USES: Greasy hair, insect repellent and oily skin.
CAUTION: Cedarwood essential oil is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is diluted before application. However, it is best avoided during pregnancy.
